I purchased one of these and it was delivered in Feb, 2022. I reported air leaks causing excessive frost buildup on inside where lid hinges are located. GE agreed to replace the unit. I was very pleased with their handling of the issue. After the replacement arrived, I started hearing a strange sound, like air escaping under high pressure. This freezer also has the same problem as the first. I reported both problems and after some research by GE, they came back and said the excessive frost buildup was "as designed", and that they were wrong when they replaced the first one. After continued complaints, the finally sent a GE repairman out. He said the sound was "normal". At first he agreed with me about the frost buildup but after making a call, he came back and said it was "as designed". So GE says they made the frost buildup and the strange noise "by design". Where is the common sense here. Thankfully my freezer is in garage. If it was inside, the noise would be totally unacceptable. Now I only hear it when motor is running and I go into garage. My idea of design improvements and that of GE designers is very different. It freezes great btw. I won't buy another GE product as long as a viable alternative is available.

We purchased this one as our very old standing freezer was on it's last legs. This freezer has so much more space than we thought it would! The sliding baskets are wonderful for our hamburger and other small items. We were able to fit a quarter of beef along with about 40 more pounds of various frozen items with room to spare!

It comes with several neat features that we didn't even realize when we purchased it: an LED light inside; trays for separation and organization; and a lock (which we need). Couldn't be happier.

We ordered half of a cow and purchased this freezer to keep it in. 250 lbs. of beef fits with some room to spare. The freezer is out in our garage so I cannot comment on the noise. I love that it has a light on the front that shows it still has power and if there is a problem the light changes colors.

We replaced a 7 cu-ft GE garage ready freezer with this because we needed more capacity. The width, front to back, is less than we'd like, which makes it a bit longer than we'd like for our placement of the freezer. And we find that the cover has inadequate counter balance springs (which do not appear to be adjustable), so it is difficult to close without the cover slamming down, especially while hold food in the other hand. Otherwise, it has functioned well this winter, even in a very cold garage setting.

at first glance product appears to have features desired, upon actually using appliance the problems begin to appear, first the lid handle screws come loose because lid is too heavy for tiny screws used to hold handle in place, frost appeared within few days, bottom of unit is uneven hard to level. Believe got used/returned item instead of new product

Purchased from Costco easy transaction; I bought the freezer because the advertisement said, "Garage Ready". The freezer has no leveling feet; Wait What??. I don't know of any garage that has a level floor. Probably because most city building codes must have garage floors built with a slight slope out from the walls and out away from the garage. So how can you advertise the freezer as garage ready. Yes, I could buy some hard plastic shims and level the freezer. But you would think, for a price of close to $1k for the freezer you would have a way to level the freezer; all my other appliances have leveling feet and they are in the house on a level floor. Other than this obvious imperfection I still like the freezer. However, I am now stuck with having to rig an appropriate way of leveling this freezer without voiding the manufacturer's warranty. Well, off the hardware store on my day off from work and roam around for 3-4 hours to find the hard plastic shims.

I took out the baskets to wipe everything down before using the freezer. There are 2 little plastic clips missing from the rail to support the baskets. I registered the freezer, called customer support and they told me they can't send the clips. They don't even come with the rail if you purchase it separately. They did offer to replace my brand new freezer. After the nightmare of trying to get this one delivered I don't want to do that ever again. Tried to add a photo and that doesn't work either.

Overall we love the size and all the features of the freezer. The organizer baskets that come with the unit make it so easy to keep food organized. I also love the light feature especially since we keep ours in our garage where it can be dark.

Unit is a very nice size without being too big or too small. My only qualm is that you cant tell anything at the warehouse when you pick it up. Its not till you get home and see a small dent that you think what a shame that is. Otherwise it should suit our needs.
Wife really wanted one with an audible alarm whish is why we got this unit. I like the 48hour guarantee.

This is my 2nd GE Garage Ready chest freezer....very pleased with product. I use one for frozen foods, bread, ice cream, etc. and the other for meats and vegetables. I am cheap... so I wouldn't have bought the second freezer if I wasn't totally pleased with the product!

I never liked the chest type of freezer because of how hard is to find things especially at the bottom.
I did lots of research upright vs chest freezers. I checked CR and found this unit. CR did am excellent job with their reviews. I made the decision to purchase the GE fcm16dlcww chest freezer.
Well, with two rows of shelving GE did an excellent job to organize the freezer. You can find things easily without breaking your back.
For the technical specs; its a large size freezer. Comes with 2 large and 2 small shelves. I recommend to order 2 more sets. Plenty of room inside to store all your goods. Since it's big, you will need a good space to install this giant.
When plugged in first time, alarm goes off, but resetting the button clears it. I read some people had hight temp alarm issues. I'm not sure if it's common or an assembly line issue.
It took about 2 hours to cool the whole unit to be ready for goods to be freeze. It's very quite and installed bright light is a great addition to the unit. Has drainage system to clean the unit. Make sure to pay attention to its measurements and measure where you are planning to install. Finally, in the end it's a freezer and it does it's job very well and highly recommended.

Overall the unit is pretty solidly made. If like me, you intend to use this as a keezer, be aware that you can't simply shut the high temp warning alarm off. That means every time the unit kicks on, the alarm will beep incessantly until your temp controller shuts back off. You cn kill the alarm by pressing a button on the controller unit, but you'd have to do that each time the power cycles. It took some time and some tinkering, but I was able to reduce the alarm sound significantly - but not completely. While reasonable for typical use, it seems like the user should have the option to override this feature.

Better than I hoped it would be, fits well in the space I made, the power cord is long enough to fit pretty much anywhere you need to put it. Plenty of space and the storage boxes that come with it move seem-less across the ridges.
